The toilet has Kohler’s AquaPiston flushing mechanism to give added power to the flush, with the water entering the bowl around the whole perimeter of the rim. Kohler Cimarron review will give you an overall idea whether it is the one you are looking for.
Design / Materials
The Cimarron toilet is made, in two pieces, from vitreous china with a fully glazed trap way. The toilet with a seat fitted is at chair height to make standing and sitting easier, and the bowl elongated for added comfort.
The 1.28 gallons of water that is used on each flush is boosted by the AquaPiston flushing system. This boosts the water pressure which then forces the water into the bowl around the complete perimeter of the rim. This system ensures that the toilet is cleared of all waste with the first flush and no clogging.
As part of the Water sense certification, this toilet has to clear a set amount of miso paste every time on the first flush. The AquaPiston flushing system, combined with the contoured design of the bowl and the fully glazed trap way all add to make the Cimarron have a very effective, first-time flush cleaning capacity.
The toilet does not have any special coatings so most cleaning products can be used to clean the toilet.
The Kohler Cimarron uses only 1.28 gallons of water per flush. The toilet, due to its low water consumption plus the ability of the toilet to clear all waste in a single flush is what make the toilet Water Sense certified. Water Sense certified toilets can, in many areas, qualify for rebates from water bills. To check if your area is covered check out the EPA Water Sense rebate finder page.
Ease of Installation
The toilet uses the standard rough in of 12” to the center of the waste pipe from the wall. To install the toilet you need to have a new trap seal, new T-bolts (and nuts) if your existing ones are corroded and a toilet seat. The fact that this toilet is a two piece makes the installation easier due to having less weight than a single piece toilet but does need the tank to be fitted to the bowl. Full installation instructions, including the tools needed, from Kohler can be seen here.
- Two-piece toilet
- ADA compliant (if the flush trip lever faces the approach to the toilet)
- EPA Water Sense certified
- Chrome flush trip lever
- AquaPiston flush system
- Fully glazed trap way
- 1 year limited warranty
- The shape at the base of the toilet makes it difficult to use a plunger (should one be needed)
The KOHLER Cimarron is a very well designed and, considering its features, is quite competitively priced. It does need a seat buying separately which adds to the cost but, if you are in a Water Sense rebate area, the rebate more than offsets the cost of the seat. The ADA compliance means that it can be fitted in restrooms that are used by the public and employees (subject to the flush trip lever being on the approach side of the toilet.
